Climate
Cool season vegetable and is moderately frost tolerant.
Best color carrots are produced when the temperature at the growth stage range between 15c and 20c, above or below this level carrot color develops slowly and tends to be rather yellow.
Soil
Carrots thrive best on deep, loose loamy soil. To secure an early crop, sandy loam soil is ideal. The soil in the PH of 5.5 to 6.5 is the best.
Land Preparation
The seed is rather small; a finely pulverized seedbed is imp so that a maximum number of soil particles may contact the seed to facilitate the germination process. Thorough cultivation to a depth of 25 to 30cm is essential.

EARLY CROPS ( planted during Aug and harvested during Nov/Dec)
MID-SEASON CROP (Planted during Sep/Oct and is ready for harvest during DEC/JAN)
LATE-SEASON CROP (Planted during Nov and harvested in Feb/Mar)
SUMMER CROP ( its raised in HILLY areas. it is sown in Mar/Apr and harvested from Jun-Jul)

Irrigation
At the time of sowing enough moisture in the soil must be better for germination. First irrigation may be needed 5 – 6 days after sowing and repeated again after 5-6 days till the completion of germination.
